Because leather
is a natural product it requires care to keep it looking good. Leather
breathes, leather is warm and leather has individual characteristics.
Therefore every so often it can develop a flaw that will need to
be rectified and occasionally will need to be treated to a facial!

What type
of leather do you have?
Aniline
leather is the most natural looking leather with
the unique surface characteristics of the hide remaining visible,
it is the most natural looking, with natural surface visible, but
is less resistant to soiling
Semi-aniline
leather is more durable than aniline whilst still
retaining a natural appearance.
Pigmented
(protected) leather is the most durable but is less
natural in appearance, having a polymer coating is the most durable
and is used in the majority of furniture upholstery and almost all
car upholstery
Antique grain has
the appearance of being well worn; it is used for furniture such
as chairs and sofas. There are often two colours blended together
giving a mottled effect.
Bi-cast
(also known as bycast leather, split leather or PU leather) is a
synthetic upholstery product; manufacturers use the bycast treatment
to process their leather, which provides a smooth, shiny finish
as well as protection to the leather. |

Leather nearly always displays traces of its origin,
for example, branding, creasing and unique markings. These characteristics
add charm and will not affect the wearing qualities of the product.
Leather is highly resistant and durable and generally improves with
age, developing a patina that enhances its appeal.
